Skincare - Spotless Skin & Fine Pores

Today, i will share with you the topic on freckles and open pores as taught by Barbie Hsu's beauty book - Mei Rong Dai Wang, Parts 2 and 3 of Chapter 3.

Many women are pissed off and upset when they see spots, sized of sesame seeds are scattered on their skin. Freckles are easy to cure but not those that you are naturally borne with. We can use masks to improve their condition. Barbie has two spots on her cheeks since young and she hates them. The doctor told her that unless she uses laser, else she cannot get rid of them. Laser can handle deep skin structure but she resisted it. As she needs to work every day, she cannot avoid makeup and the sun after the treatment. Moreover, after a few months, the spots may regrow. It will be very troublesome to keep going for treatment! Therefore, if you have difficulities to remove any spots like hers, Barble suggested that you use masks to lighten them or a concealer when you wear makeup.

Secret to Fine Pores

Big pores are not nice and affect healthy skin. So no matter what, Barbie Hsu will not allow it to happen! Once they enlarge, they will get bigger. Usually, such pores can store impurities easily. So we must solve the problems of acnes before minimising them. Most of us think that one should not squeeze pimples. But if you do not do that, they will always remain there and it will be useless to use alot of pore reducing products!

Depending on the depth of your zits, scrubbing your skin regularly can correct the shallow ones effectively. For deeper ones, she advises you to use a pimple remover that is shaped like a needle. How? See below:

Needle-shaped Pimple Remover

Step 1

Wash your face with lukewarm water.

Step 2
Spread a warm towel over your face for a few minutes to slightly open your pores.

Step 3
Sterilize the round part with alcohol or tea tree oil. Do note that tea tree oil is not suitable for sensitive skin.

Step 4
Place the round part of the pimple remover on your pimple and press lightly to remove it.

After eliminating all zits, it's time to minimise pores!

If you still cannot clear those stubborn acnes, please go and seek help from a dermatologist. Barbie strongly discourages the usage of pore strips to remove blackheads and whiteheads. She had torn her skin after peeling the strips off her nose! For ladies with oily or over-sensitive skin, she urges you to use essence liquids to moisturize skin as they have finer quality than gel types.

Some facial products consist of alcohol that can irritate sensitive skin and make it itchy. Kiehl's cucumber herbal alcohol-free toner is gentle and comfortable to use when applying it on your skin. Barbie uses it every day and feels that her pores are getting smaller day by day! :)

few days ago, a contractor treated us lunch at Dolphins Tavern at 22 Jalan Selaseh! i was excited n happi of cos lol. i ordered e traditional fish and chips set meal while my 3 collics n e contractor Kurobuta pork loin. for starter, we had e prawn salad. alamak, there were oni 4 prawns so i sacrificed lol. but it was cos i was shy 2 'kope' it la. e salad was jus normal 2 mi wif fresh mayo n lettuce. i din tk e asparagus cos i dun lk.

my dish was e last 2 serve. e contractor uncle said it was unusual as usuali, it will be served 1st. but i'm ok except tt ltr i will eat v slow den they will nid 2 wait 4 mi 2 finish lol. wow my fish was huge and crispy. it tasted fresh. but i tink it was quite dry if i din mix it wif e tartar sauce. i tot i wun b able 2 finish it cos there were mani fries too lol. if i din rem wrongli, i dunno y e side dish ie. salad had an alcohol or wine smell :X e nice contractor let mi try e pork. woooo... it was yummy as it released a fragrant smell in my mouth lol! but my collic said tt e dark sauce had covered e taste of e meat. oh yeah, some of us had either carrot soup or onion soup b4 e main course. my collic wondered y e carrot soup was nt orange while another remarked there's no carrot flavor lol.

aft tt, we made desserts order. wa my jackfruit icecream was extremely delicious lol~! e strong aroma was heaven lol. if oni e scoop was bigger lol. there were shreds of jackfruit too ;p it was better than e icecream tt came wif e meal. i dunno hw my collic's vanilla icecream tasted.

yeah, it was such a hearty lunch! all of us had enjoyed it! tks 2 e contractor hee...

tis was nt my 1st time havin gd food 4 lunch le. i can say my office is damn gd lol. so far, we dined at Sushi Tei, Crystal Jade, Fish & Co, Mos Burger etc.. 2 wks ago, my collic drove us to Amk Ave 1 and treated us bak kut teh :) e Pig's Trotters there is nt bad! no wonder there was a long queue lol. smtms, when thr r comp events, we oso ordered buffet, yeah! on some rainy days, we will call Pizza Hut or Mcdonalds.

Say 'byebye' to blackheads!

What is a 'blackhead'?
To quote from 'Wikipedia', a 'blackhead' is a yellow or blackish bump or plug on the skin which is a type of acne vulgaris. Contrary to the common belief that it is caused by poor hygiene, blackheads are caused by excess oils that have accumulated in the sebaceous gland's duct. To learn more, click here.

How to remove blackheads?

Suggestion 1 - Use baking soda and water

Step 1:
Add one tablespoon of baking soda to two tablespoons of water.
(Very thick mixture. But do not worry as the baking soda is insoluable)

Step 2:
Soak a piece of facial cotton wool into the mixture for 3 minutes.

Step 3:
After 3 minutes, place the facial cotton wool onto your nose and leave it for 10 mins.

Step 4:
After 10 minutes, use clean fingers or a piece of clean cotton wool to rub your nose gently. Dead skin cells and blackheads will be thoroughly removed.

Suggestion 2 - Use salt and milk

Step 1:

Get salt which is new as it is better and more hygenic. Keep them in a clean container for future use.

Step 2:

Add 4 to 5 drops of milk with a pinch of salt.

Step 3:

Start to massage your nose lightly for about 2 minutes with the mixture prepared in Step 2 as the salt is not fully melted.

Step 4:

Rinse your nose with water. To allow your skin to produce 'clean' sebum for moisture, do not apply any facial products on your nose after rinsing.

Suggestion 3 - Use pearl powder

Step 1:
Buy pearl powder of superior quality that can be consumed.

Step 2:
Place a moderate amount of pearl powder in a dish and add water. Mix it until it becomes creamy.

Step 3:
Apply the mixture onto your face thoroughly and start to massage your face until the mixture dries up.

Step 4:
Rinse with water.

* This method can be adopted twice a week to effectively remove dead skin cells and blackheads.

I've not tried any of the suggested methods so i do not know whether they work. I just want to translate and share them with you as they use natural ingredients after learning about them from a Chinese website. If you encounter any redness or irritations, please stop immediately. For those who had tried, please let me know the results, thanks :)

Inception and Twilight Saga: Eclipse~!!!

recently, i've watched 2 western movies with my bf. they r Inception and Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

many ppl had enjoyed Inception and i was no exception! at first, i wanna watch it cos i heard gd reviews and partly, it was becos Leonardo Dicaprio had acted in it lol. he has been my idol since i watched Romeo & Juliet! he had become a nominated Academy-Award actor from just a 'pretty boy-faced' actor i knew since then. he was shot to stardom when e blockbuster 'Titanic' was a hit movie in 1997! i had read that he now plans 2b a father in e near future. altho he was not as slim as many yrs ago, i will stil support him :) u can learn more abt him here.

Leonardo Dicaprio

tis mornin, we went to watch Eclipse which stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. i was first introduced to these celebrities thru tis movie. i tink Kristen Stewart is a babe! So young and beautiful! i like Taylor Lautner's figure. he's so fit lol. if oni Robert Pattinson has his body lol. i had watched e first 2 series. to mi, e 1st one was e best as it was most interestin and Kristen had become my fav actress lol. lately, she was voted as one of e sexiest woman in e world by FHM's readers. u can read e article here.  i was quite disappointed with Eclipse as it was boring honestly. i tot it will be better than New Moon. tis part focuses alot on e luv-triangle. my bf said Robert Pattinson is not handsome but Taylor Lautner is. lol. i hope 2 c Bella and Edward marry in e nx part :)

Thank God It's Friday~!

on e dae b4 2dae, on fri, my fren told mi tt she may go 2 China 2 work. she had gone 4 e interview. b4 tt, she asked mi if i hv e chance, will i gif up my rship wif my bf. i said tt my bf will b veri understandin and asks mi 2 go ahead. 4 mi, if i'm stil nt married, of cos i will go, especially if its somewhere i long 2 go lol. if her interview is successful, she will b my 3rd fren who's workin overseas. somemore, its at China agn lol. wonder y tis hap so mani x tis yr! haiz...

b4 knockin off, i was in a bad mood cos of my tutor. we were supposed 2 mit tt dae cos i wanna help her scan her certs out of gd will. i dunno wat hap! she sounded so friendly e oth dae. if she cant mk it, den juz tell mi. dun nid ignore my calls n smses. till nw, she stil did nt reply mi. haiz.. so bad.

without waitin 4 her further, i went shopping wif my sis n her fren, Magaret at NTUC at Amk Hub aft dinner. it was nice 2 noe Magaret. she's more matured than my sis lol. she's a softspoken and quiet gal. she even recommennded one iPhone app to mi lol. xtuali, she wanna go 2 watch some 'live' show at Dhoby Ghaut but my sis and i were not interested. so we nv went. on e way, we chatted quite alot.

Altho it was a Fri, my bf and i did nt mit cos he's nt free. so i juz went out wif my sis. i seldom go out wif her cos i dun reli lk it. but if it's goin swimmin or playin badminton tog, i'm on! we did go 2 Kbox tog b4...

Be neat! Storage tips for ladies!

Is ur house in a mess? Do u leave ur clothes everywhere on e floor in ur bedroom or living room? Or even in e kitchen? How do u gers tidy ur things or keep ur clothes n accessories? In boxes or containers? Did u make full use of every space? Dun fret and here are some gd ideas:

#1: Big bag, medium bag, small bag.

U like to scatter ur bags of various sizes and materials here and there? Put ur small bag in ur big bag to make it into '1 bag'. This will look neat. If it's autumn or winter season, i suggest u to choose 'basket' type of bags which are outdated as the outermost bag as shown on e rite.

#2 - Accumulate small items. Categorize them carefully.

Makeup products such as mascaras, eyeliners, eyebrows pencils and lipsticks are elongated and cannot stand properly if u keep them in ur drawer. What can u do? Simple. Use a stationery holder! Place e same group together will enable u to look for a certain piece faster, especially if u're in a hurry!

#3 - Masks in transparent zip cases.

Most of us, ladies like to apply mask before a hot date! So we will buy many kinds of masks but we do not know where to store them. Well, go and get a transparent zip case and put all ur masks inside! This fits all masks of different sizes and u can slip it inside any narrow space in ur wardrobe or bathroom.

#4 - Ring, ring, ring.

Do u lose ur rings easily? Cos they are small and light. If u are free and cannot get any conical stands outside, make one urself! It's easy! Take an A4 paper and roll it into a cone. Den use scotch tape or glue to stick e edge.

This is my fav idea as e most important part of this is i will know instantly when there is one ring missing lol. E cones won't take up much spaces too. Doesn't it look cute? I'm sure many of u will love it ;p

Skincare - Exfoliation

Below is part 1 of Chapter 3 of Barbie Hsu's Mei Rong Dai Wang - Skin Care:

No matter how bad u look naturally, with good maintenance, many foundations can be altered. For example, people with dark complexion will become fairer after a period of time. Barbie Hsu wants to remind every woman that there is no ugly woman in e world. If we put in hard work, we will achieve wonderful results!

Since average-looking women can turn into gorgeous female, then what is e suitable time to take care of skin? Barbie thinks it will be e time u start to wear make-up! Normal young students really do not have e need to color their face. Unless u proposely go and damage ur skin, u can just keep it clean without any special facial products.

Srcub ur face, make it radiant!

Whether u are a lady or a man, everyone must do scrubbing. Thick dead skin accumulating on e surface can prevent impurities under ur skin from coming out. Ur skin won't be able to absorb facial products effectively. Obviously, u look dull!

There is especially one kind of person who must scrub her face, i.e those who apply make-up every day! If after removing make-up and washing ur face, u found that ur skin tone is unbalanced with small spots, this means that ur dead skin cells are overwhelming! So please exfoliate ur skin now!

Tip 1: Scrubs are powerful

If ur dead skin is deep and pores are big, use a scrub to remove dead skin cells is better. To use what type of scrub depends on the condition of ur skin. Barbie recommends DHC facial scrub which is not very foamy and does not consist of detergents, just a simple scrub for every skin type.

Tip 2:  Gentle effects of gel and enzymes

People with sensitive and easily peeling skin have delicate skin. Using scrubs to exfoliate skin can cause opposite results and develop black pigmentations effortlessly. Barbie suggests u buy enzymatic gel-type masks to get rid of dead skin cells lightly.

Tip 3: Softly eliminates dead skin at e corners of ur mouth and on ur nose

Some of u are prone to e growth of black coloring on e areas mentioned above. This is a sign of very sensitive skin. E more u rub it, e darker it gets. E best way is to use masks!

Tip 4: Use AHA facial products carefully

There are many such products in e market. If this ingredient is concentrated, Barbie thinks they are more suitable for guys who ride a motorbike as their skin is exposed to pollutants and dirt. If girls who wash their face regularly with such cleanser do not use it properly, they will over stimulate their skin. Therefore, u only use AHA products if ur dead skin is really thick, else u must b discreet when applying it.

In conclusion, there are 3 possible factors that cause dull skin:

- Side effect of birth control pills or period-adjusting pills.

- Deep dead skin.

- Ur natural skin color is more to yellow.

Dun worry, skin whitening can treat dull skin! Barbie proposes using red wine mask as it can activate blood circulation to make skin radiant! Lucky for u, this kind of mask is available at Beauty Credit shops here in Singapore :)
